I Tried TikTok And Made $389 A Year Ago

My first year on TikTok and how it surprisingly brought in $389.

Let me tell you something real—when I first jumped on TikTok, I didn’t think I’d ever make a single dollar from it.

Before you start reading more, I have a good news for you:

Lately, I’ve been diving into these weird little online gigs where people are making earnings like $175/day replying to comments on Facebook, or $256/day doing writing assistant job on Quora, etc. (yep, seriously!). I’m making money using these ideas as well on a daily basis.
I’ve saved the best ones I found on this page right here in case you ever wanna peek at what’s actually out there. Some of them surprised me big time!

You can see the screenshot down below of the jobs you can choose from:

Now, back to the rest of the article:

Like most people, I was just scrolling endlessly, watching funny videos, and wasting time.

But one day, I came across people talking about how they were making actual money through TikTok, and I thought, why not give it a try?

I didn’t have fancy equipment, no strategy, and definitely no “influencer vibes.”

I literally started posting videos using my phone—stuff like quick tips, relatable moments, and random ideas that came to mind.

And here’s the crazy part: even with all that randomness, I ended up making $389 in my very first year.

Now, I know that doesn’t sound like “quit-your-job” money, but honestly, it felt huge to me. That was $389 I didn’t have before, just from posting videos.

Some came through TikTok’s Creator Fund, some from affiliate links I dropped in my bio, and a small part from people reaching out for collaborations.

The best part? I realized TikTok is less about being “perfect” and more about being consistent and relatable. People connect with you if you’re real, not if you’re flawless.

Looking back, that $389 was like a spark. It made me believe that if I could make money casually, imagine what would happen if I actually took TikTok seriously.

So yeah, if you’ve been thinking of trying TikTok but keep putting it off, I’d say—just post. You might surprise yourself like I did.
